AMF Panels: Seamless Power Transition for Uninterrupted Operations
Overview
In today's interconnected world, an unexpected power outage can cripple operations, leading to significant financial losses, data corruption, and operational downtime. AMF (Automatic Mains Failure) Panels are the critical link between your primary power source (mains) and your backup generator, ensuring a smooth, automatic, and instantaneous transfer of electrical load in the event of a power disruption.
Designed for reliability and efficiency, our AMF Panels provide peace of mind, guaranteeing that your essential systems remain operational, even when the grid fails.
What is an AMF Panel?
An AMF Panel is an intelligent control system that monitors the incoming mains (grid) supply. Upon detecting a failure in the mains power, it automatically starts a standby generator, transfers the electrical load from the mains to the generator, and then reverses this process seamlessly once the mains power is restored. This fully automated system eliminates the need for manual intervention, minimizing downtime and protecting your sensitive equipment.
Key Features
Automatic Mains Failure Detection: Continuously monitors all phases of the mains supply for voltage, frequency, and phase sequence irregularities.
Automatic Generator Start/Stop: Intelligently sends start commands to the generator upon mains failure and shut-down commands after mains restoration and a programmable cool-down period.
Automatic Load Transfer (ATS Functionality): Features integrated or external Automatic Transfer Switches (ATS) to facilitate safe and swift transfer of electrical load between mains and generator.
Integrated Protection Systems: Comprehensive generator and load protection, including:
Overload & Short Circuit Protection
Under/Over Voltage & Frequency Protection
Low Oil Pressure & High Engine Temperature Shutdown
Over-crank Protection
Emergency Stop Functionality
User-Friendly Interface:
High-resolution LCD/LED display for real-time status, alarms, and operational parameters.
Intuitive push-button controls for manual operation, testing, and programming.
Programmable Parameters: Customizable settings for delay timers (mains failure, generator start, transfer, cool-down), test schedules, and alarm thresholds.
Event Logging & Diagnostics: Records operational events, alarms, and faults with time stamps for easy troubleshooting and maintenance.
Remote Monitoring & Control (Optional): Integration with SCADA, BMS, or cloud-based platforms via Modbus RTU, TCP/IP, or GSM/GPRS for remote status monitoring, control, and alarm notifications.
Robust Enclosure: IP-rated (e.g., IP54, IP65) powder-coated sheet steel enclosures providing protection against dust, water, and corrosion, suitable for indoor and outdoor installations.
Battery Charger: Integrated battery charger to keep the generator's starter battery optimally charged.
Test Functionality: Manual and automatic test modes to ensure generator readiness.
How it Works
Mains Failure: The AMF Panel constantly monitors the incoming mains supply. If it detects a disruption (e.g., power outage, under-voltage, over-voltage), it initiates the sequence.
Generator Start: After a pre-set delay (to confirm mains failure isn't momentary), the AMF Panel sends a start signal to the generator.
Generator Ready: Once the generator starts and reaches its stable operating voltage and frequency, the AMF Panel verifies its readiness.
Load Transfer (Mains to Generator): The AMF Panel opens the main circuit breaker (mains contactor) and then closes the generator circuit breaker (generator contactor), transferring the electrical load to the generator.
Mains Restoration: When the mains power returns and stabilizes, the AMF Panel monitors it for a pre-set period.
Load Transfer Back (Generator to Mains): The AMF Panel opens the generator circuit breaker and then closes the main circuit breaker, restoring the load to the mains supply.
Generator Cool-down & Stop: After the load is transferred back to the mains, the generator runs unloaded for a pre-set "cool-down" period to ensure proper cooling before receiving a stop signal.
Standby Mode: The AMF Panel returns to standby mode, continuously monitoring the mains supply.
Benefits
Uninterrupted Power Supply: Guarantees continuous power for critical operations, minimizing downtime and production losses.
Enhanced Operational Efficiency: Fully automated operation eliminates the need for manual intervention, freeing up personnel and reducing human error.
Cost Savings: Prevents costly downtime, protects sensitive equipment from power fluctuations, and optimizes fuel consumption by running the generator only when necessary.
Increased Safety: Prevents hazardous back-feeding into the utility grid and ensures proper load switching sequences.
Generator Longevity: Manages generator start-up, cool-down, and protection features, extending its lifespan.
Peace of Mind: Provides assurance that your critical systems are protected and will remain operational during grid outages.
Compliance: Helps meet regulatory requirements for continuous power in specific industries.
