Advanced Automatic Power Factor Correction (APFC) Panels
Optimize Your Power, Maximize Your Savings.
In today's energy-intensive industrial and commercial environments, inefficient power utilization can lead to significant financial penalties, increased operational costs, and reduced equipment lifespan. Our state-of-the-art Automatic Power Factor Correction (APFC) Panels are engineered to intelligently manage and improve your electrical system's power factor, ensuring optimal efficiency, reliability, and substantial cost savings.
What is an APFC Panel?
An APFC Panel is an integrated electrical control system designed to monitor the reactive power in an electrical network and automatically switch in or out capacitor banks to maintain the power factor close to unity (1). By compensating for the lagging reactive power caused by inductive loads (motors, transformers, fluorescent lighting), APFC panels reduce the overall apparent power drawn from the grid, leading to a more efficient and stable power supply.
Key Features & Superior Engineering:
Intelligent Microprocessor-Based Controller: Our panels are equipped with high-speed, multi-step APFC relays that continuously monitor the load, calculate reactive power requirements, and switch capacitor steps with precision and speed, often in real-time.
High-Quality Capacitors: We utilize heavy-duty, self-healing, low-loss, metallized polypropylene (MPP) capacitors designed for long operational life and robust performance even under fluctuating loads and harmonic environments.
Harmonic Filtration (Optional/Detuned Reactors): For installations with significant non-linear loads, we offer panels integrated with detuned reactors to filter out harmful harmonics, protecting capacitors and other equipment from premature failure and improving overall power quality.
Robust Enclosure: Constructed from CRCA steel, our panels feature an industrial-grade, dust-proof, and vermin-proof enclosure with appropriate IP ratings (e.g., IP42, IP54) for durability and safety in harsh environments.
Heavy-Duty Contactors: Specially designed for capacitor switching, these contactors incorporate damping resistors to limit inrush currents, extending the life of both the contactors and capacitors.
Comprehensive Protection: Each panel includes essential safety features such as short-circuit protection (MCCBs/SFUs), overcurrent protection, overvoltage/undervoltage protection, and capacitor over-temperature alarms.
User-Friendly Interface: Clear LCD/LED displays provide real-time data on power factor, current, voltage, kVAr, kWh, and other critical parameters. Easy-to-navigate menus allow for simple configuration and monitoring.
Modular & Expandable Design: Our panels are designed for flexibility, allowing for easy expansion of capacitor banks to accommodate future load growth without extensive modifications.
Ventilation System: Adequate ventilation (natural or forced air cooling with fans) ensures optimal operating temperatures for internal components, enhancing reliability and lifespan.
Compliance: Built to meet international and national standards such as IEC, IS, and relevant safety certifications.
Unrivaled Benefits for Your Operations:
Significant Cost Savings:
Reduced Electricity Bills: Eliminate power factor penalties imposed by utility providers.
Lower kVA Demand Charges: Decrease the peak apparent power demand, directly reducing your monthly utility bill.
Reduced Losses: Less energy dissipated as heat in cables and transformers, leading to a more efficient system.
Enhanced Electrical Efficiency: Improve the overall efficiency of your electrical distribution system, making better use of your existing infrastructure.
Extended Equipment Lifespan: Reduce thermal stress and voltage drops across transformers, cables, switchgear, and motors, leading to fewer breakdowns and longer operational life for your critical assets.
Improved Voltage Stability: Maintain more stable and consistent voltage levels throughout your facility, crucial for sensitive equipment and optimal motor performance.
Increased System Capacity: Free up existing transformer and cable capacity that was previously used to supply reactive power, allowing for future expansion without costly infrastructure upgrades.
